I see your point, but I didn't do it.....

Because that new rv9 ehq psnr thread, many people are convinced that rv9 is the best format and many ppl also thinks that wma is the best audio format. Thus, why not mixing them together......

Personnally, I still think rv9 is worse than xvid or other codecs at high motion, somehow its two-pass algorithm isn't very efficient at distributing the bits............

Regardless of the possible imcompebility issue, since there is an avi version, so there is nothing to worry about..........

Since AVI will still be the primary format for releasing animes....
I don't think AAC will be the primary focus.....
besides........
the precieved audio quality is very subjective.........
and it varies with the equiptment used.......
in order to convince ppl AAC is very good........
we need to have some solid evidence(such as conducting a blind test with people here) or some good written essays that explain the advantages of AAC+.........
I dout how many people actually know what's AAC.........
personally, I've heard AAC 5.1........
I think it's very decent...........

dillee1, what do u use to encode AAC+.......
I used the encoder from nero6.....
when I use the 50K-70K he aac preset........
the quality is much worse than wma......
or maybe i'm using the wrong decoder that dosen't do SBC......

I guess you are not using Nero Waveedit to play back the encoded AAC+ mp4 file.

Currently only Nero Waveedit is capabable of decoding the SBR part properly. Real Player, Quicktime 6, evivo, mp4player and 3ivx none of them are currently able to understand SBR.

Without SBR, high fequency is not reproduced and the reproduced sound is very dull and distorted.

Beside Nero Waveedit, Nero Showtime do provides dshow filter for AAC+ playback. However it always crash on Win 2003 platform.
May be you can try out Showtime and tell me your results. :D

Ahead will release the SBR decoder code under GPL on 25 this month, probably we will see a new version of CoreAAC decoder with SBR support at the end of month then.

Finally nero has released SBR code into FAAD.
Now a directshow decoder for AAC+ is available. (Can playback video with aac+ sound in any media player now)
Anyone interested to get a copy?

3ivx d4.1 media splitter + fdshow + AAC+ works like a charm:)
