That's called a curve grading system. Sometimes it's used here....but it's up to the discretion of the individual instructors.

偶觉得通常比较难的老师才会CURVE,有一些BT老师是为了所谓的教学质量,所以故意把整个班的GRADE压很低....但又似乎REASONABLE,学生想要去DEAN告他都找不到借口....遇到这种情况,只有自认倒霉吧:o

I think your professor should indicate that she never gives out A's on the course syllabus, just to be fair.

She's open to giving out A+'s and A's *in theory*....it's just that nobody has ever gotten it from her as far as I know.....
