PICKET NOW EXTENDED TO 10 DOWNING STREET WEDNESDAY 23RD FEBRUARY
I would like to update you on the details of our protest over the visa extension charges. First, we now have a confirmation from the authorities that we are permitted to extend our protest to the Tony Blair at 10 Downing Street. This means that we will picket the Home Office from 12.30 to 2pm. We will then hand our protest letter to the Home Office and proceed to the Prime Ministers' Office at 10 Downing Street. At 3pm we will be allowed entrance to the Prime Ministers quarters to officially hand over our protest letter to the Prime Minister. Please note that the Home Office has now moved to 2 Marshan Street. Let us tell Charles Clarke that he can run but he cannot hide.
To make this protest a successful event, I am encouraging you to please inform your international students about this protest and the need to attend. This is the first time that international students will publicly protest over the issues affecting us. If your institution is attending this event, do not forget to bring along a banner showing the name of your institution. We are also encouraging international students to put on their traditional clothes, as we are expecting some press coverage on the day. We are not sure of the weather, so can I advice that we all also come with warm clothes (i.e jackets).
We should all meet at 12.30pm at the Home Office on 2 Marshan Street. There are metered car/coach park close to the Home Office. The Prime Ministers Office is only 10 minutes walk from the Home Office. If you are arriving later than 2pm, please proceed to the Prime Ministers' Office, 10 Downing Street.
If you are coming down for the day, why not meet with your MP too, to inform them of your concerns. It is easier to access Parliament if you have an appointment booked. You can find out who your MP is and how to contact them by going to
